Location: 100 College Drive, Logan, WV 25601, United States Instructor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Full-time 9-Month Term Faculty with Benefits Campus: Williamson Campus Grant-funded position Responsibilities Southern WV Community & Technical College seeks an innovative instructor committed to student success and to the mission of the college. The successful applicant will teach courses in hospitality and tourism management and, as needed, general business courses based on institutional demand and the candidate’s credentials. The successful applicant will also: Utilize instructional technologies in the classroom and for distance delivery of instruction. Develop, revise, and assess curriculum, course outlines, syllabi, and learning outcomes in response to institutional priorities and industry trends. Advise and mentor students, including career guidance and transfer or employment support. Work effectively with supervisors, faculty, staff, students, and community partners as part of an education team. Support program recruitment, retention, experiential learning, internships, and employer engagement within the regional hospitality and tourism sector. Deliver instruction in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous, asynchronous, and other alternative delivery modes as needed. Teach at any Southern location. Requirements Master’s degree in hospitality, tourism, business, or a related field with at least 12 graduate hours in the teaching discipline is required; 18 graduate hours in the discipline is preferred; or Master’s Degree in another field with additional graduate coursework in hospitality, tourism, business, or a related area may also be considered; Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, tourism, business, or a related field plus significant professional experience, industry certifications, or licensure may be considered if permitted by institutional policy and accreditor standards. Preference will be given to candidates with hospitality or tourism industry experience, teaching experience, community college experience, online course development experience, and demonstrated ability to teach both discipline‑specific and introductory business coursework. Willingness to develop relationships and collaborate with local employers, tourism organizations, chambers of commerce, and workforce partners to create applied learning opportunities for students is a must. Must also have strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Hours A full faculty load consists of 30 credit hours of teaching per academic year, plus regular office hours and other related assignments to total 37.5 hours per week. Teaching assignments may include classes on any Southern location during the day, evening, and on weekends. They may also include online, dual enrollment, and off‑campus classes. Expectations In addition to teaching and assessing student learning, faculty should expect to participate in institutional service, advising, and professional development. Faculty assignments may also include helping create experiential learning opportunities, building internship and work‑based learning relationships, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, mentoring adjuncts or new faculty, and assisting with workforce or community education initiatives. The successful candidate may be asked to teach or support courses consistent with program and college needs.
