School Psychologist

To provide comprehensive school psychological services to parents, teachers, children, and administrators in the special education department.

Provides individualized child study in the areas of intellectual ability, education achievement, and social/emotional adjustment.

Provides recommendations to school personnel for education remediation, special class eligibility determination, and behavioral intervention.

Assists students directly toward adjustment to school.

Conducts individual, group, or facilitative therapy for student whose diagnosed problem would benefit from behavior modification.

Participates in case conference when referred students are involved, or as requested.

Participates in RTI and other special education wide interventions.

Attends multi-disciplinary staff conferences.

Provides follow-up of student progress and home/school adjustment.

Provides consultation services to parents, teachers, school personnel, and community agencies.

Participates in in-service training for staff members.

Supervises training of school psychologist interns in the school special education department.

Keeps informed of new developments in the field.

Participates with the administrative team regarding general Principal, Department Head, and special education department meetings.

Performs all duties necessary to the position and such other duties as may be fixed by the Superintendent.

Holds a master's degree in Psychology.

Hold an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Support Personnel Endorsement in School Psychologist.

Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).

Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).

Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Working Conditions and Environment: Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment. Very limited or no exposure to physical risk.
