Unit Name: Cardiac Neuro ICU

Location: Wichita, KS

General Information

• Number of Beds: 26 with a typical census of 20-24 patients
• Number of Staff: 10-12
• Type of Staff:
  • Day Shift: 10-12 RNs, 1 Charge Nurse, 1 Patient Care Tech
  • Night Shift: 10-12 RNs, 1 Charge Nurse, 0 Patient Care Tech
• Patient Ratios: 1:2, with occasional 1:1 and 1:3 assignments
• Type of Equipment: Impella, Balloon pumps, CRRT, TTM post-code, EVDs
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 year of current hospital ICU experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Neuro ICU experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with Meditech
• Experience traveling to large facility ICU Units

Typical Procedures Performed

• Heart catheterizations (STEMI & NSTEMI)
• Use of Balloon pumps, Impella, TTM, and Cardioversion
• CRRT procedures
• Care for neuro patients (EVDs, thrombectomy, coiling procedures)
• Central line and arterial line placements
• Medication drips including vasoactives, sedatives, and paralytics

Unit Policies and Guidelines

• Bedside shift report is mandatory and performed at the bedside
• Multidisciplinary rounding (MDRs) is mandatory
