Accounting Associate

Porter Law Firm is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Associate to join our team in Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation in financial operations within a professional services environment. The Accounting Associate will support day-to-day accounting functions, assist with financial reporting, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the firm's financial records. This is a full-time, in-office position. Our firm is conveniently located in the Galleria area. What We Offer Competitive salary: $45,000–$52,000, depending on experience, and eligible for OT as FLSA status is non-exempt Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with firm match Paid time off and firm holidays Collegial, team-oriented office culture in a convenient Galleria-area location Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, billing, and payment processing Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and credit card statements Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports Assist with trust accounting and client billing in accordance with firm and regulatory requirements Help track expenses, budgets, and firm financial performance Respond to internal inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances Assist with audits and support the preparation of materials for external accountants or auditors Maintain organized, compliant financial files in accordance with firm policies Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) 0–2 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience; internships welcome Working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and basic financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) Experience with legal billing/trust accounting software (e.g., Clio, Aderant, or TimeSolv) Overview Established in 2009, Porter Law Firm provides a full range of legal services for everything from business, real estate, corporate development, litigation, to tax and estate planning.
