1st Shift: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

2nd Shift: 2:00 PM-10:30 PM

Travel: Up to 50% Domestic & International

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to hire an experienced Aircraft Mechanic at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina .


This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished aviation professional to support beyond-line-of-sight aircraft modifications while working on complex aerospace systems in a highly technical, quality-driven environment.


You'll perform critical assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, inspection, and testing activities to help ensure aircraft systems meet exacting flightworthiness, contractual, and regulatory requirements. What You'll Do


As an Aircraft Mechanic , your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Assemble, disassemble, modify, remove, replace, and upgrade aerospace vehicle components to correct failures and implement required changes.
• Support the assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of aircraft systems and components.
• Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to isolate faults and repair defective components.
• Perform validation and verification testing on aircraft systems and components.
• Inspect components and verify completed repairs meet flightworthiness requirements.
• Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, blueprints, maintenance requirements, and other technical documentation.
• Document repairs, modifications, test results, inspections, and established processes to support contractual and regulatory compliance.
• Apply established repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and practices.
• Identify hazardous working conditions and potential safety concerns through regular inspections of equipment and work areas.
• Work safely at heights using appropriate fall-protection equipment.
• Perform work in confined-space environments when required.
• Support training activities and share technical knowledge as appropriate.
• Work under general direction while maintaining a high level of quality, safety, and accountability.

Please note: This is a non-managerial, non-leadership position.

Required Qualifications


To be considered, candidates should have:

• High school diploma/GED and typically 4 or more years of related work experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting basic engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• At least 3 years of experience with aircraft repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and practices.
• At least 3 years of experience identifying hazardous working conditions and safety issues through regular inspection of equipment and work areas.
• At least 3 years of experience working at heights and using fall-protection equipment , with applicable equipment weight limitations of 225 pounds or less .
• Ability to enter confined spaces with an entry opening of approximately 10 x 18 inches .
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally , sometimes with short notice and for extended periods.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current passport for international travel.
• Ability to work primarily 1st shift while supporting 2nd shift hours when operational needs require it.
• Ability to pass required Ground Operations Personnel (GOP) and air respirator medical physicals and maintain applicable qualifications/certifications.
• Ability to successfully complete required on-the-job or formal classroom training.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications


We'd especially like to hear from candidates with:

• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
• At least 3 years of C-17 platform experience .
• Experience reading and interpreting C-17 blueprints and U.S. Air Force Technical Orders .
• Knowledge of live aircraft operations and support environments.
• Multi-system operations, maintenance, and repair experience involving:
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Structural systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Propulsion systems
• Strong aircraft documentation experience.
• Ability to work safely within complex schedules while establishing effective work processes.
• A demonstrated commitment to achieving high levels of quality, productivity, and service.
