Mammography Technologist PRN

Schedule: PRN Shift: Day (United States of America) Address: 1055 SAXON BLVD City: ORANGE CITY State: Florida Postal Code: 32763 Job Description PRN role (as needed) with hours varying between 20-40 hrs/week to cover upcoming needs. Participates in patient tracking and follow‑up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling per departmental workflows. Supports breast center initiatives such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time‑out procedures before exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within EMR and PACS systems. Performs high‑quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready; equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies personnel when inventory is low; performs and documents daily system QC checks per departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed. Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion. Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements. Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of mammography and diagnostic radiological procedures. Ability to determine appropriate technical factors. Knowledge of mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations. Ability to learn and master new tasks related to image quality and radiation safety. Effective communication and ability to work with diverse backgrounds. Completion of mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful conditions. Good organizational skills (preferred). Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment (preferred). Reading, writing, and speaking conversational English. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Judgment on exam protocols and imaging techniques based on patient condition and diagnosis. Quick learning and adherence to departmental policies and procedures. Maintenance of all required registries and licenses for imaging procedures. Understanding of basic radiation safety concepts—time, distance, shielding—to keep exposure levels ALARA. Performance of 2D and 3D mammography exams. Teamwork. Verbal interpersonal skills. Customer relations. Grammar and spelling accuracy. Reading and comprehending written instructions.
