Racker Blender II

Req ID: 7030 Department: Winemaking Status: Reg F-T Non-Exempt, Nonexempt Location: Saint Helena, California (US-CA) Workplace Location: On-Site Job Summary: The Racker and Blender Level 2 will perform a variety of production cellar assignments, the majority of which involves wine processing. The Racker and Blender Level 2 will perform general cellar duties. They will assist with and/or accurately perform any routine winemaking tasks in accordance with the written direction of the Winemaking Team. This role is more knowledgeable and skilled than the Racker and Blender Level 1 role. • Certified in the transfer, racking or blending of wines and juices
• Assist in the filtration of wines and juices
• Barrel related activities: moving barrels, filling, emptying, topping, additions
• Certified to clean and/or sterilize tanks, hoses, pumps, and other related winemaking equipment
• Assist in the treatment of wines and juices with fining agents and/or cellar chemicals as directed
• Help to maintain general cleanliness and good sanitation in wine processing area
• Certified in the preparation of cellar chemicals and fining agents
• Certified to clean and maintain wood barrels and/or tanks
• Proficient and consistent in all basic cellar work
• Use forklift to move equipment and chemicals/fining agents as needed
• Completion and comprehension of safety trainings assigned
• Responsible for understanding the Food Safety and Quality Management System and related activities, including the Food Safety & Quality Policy
• Food Safety Responsibility: Report problems with the food safety management system to supervisor
• Familiarity with ISO Quality Systems

Qualifications:

• Is certified on 100% of RB1 and 85% of RB2 to qualify to be an RB2 identified in the Cellar Training Matrix.
• Is certified on the required work instructions, designated in the Cellar Training Matrix, for Racker and Blender Level 2 role.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Minimum 2 years full time cellar experience or equivalent
• Good observation and communication skills (written and verbal) essential
• Attention to detail and ability to follow through with assignments and projects
• Ability to accurately carry out written and verbal instructions
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a "team player”
• Ability to work in a safe, efficient and cooperative manner
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean DMV record
• Ability to perform regular strenuous physical work
• Ability to operate all winery process machinery in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner
• Ability to respond to frequently changing production pressures.
• Able to do basic math.
• Some computer literacy required.

Working Conditions:

• Moderate to heavy physical work
• Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities
• Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
• Must comply with all safety procedures and equipment requirements including respirator, ear plugs and safety glasses
• Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
• Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
• Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts
• Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 poundsSalary Range: $25.05 - $30.60

The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location.
