Project Overview:Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.Job Summary:In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure electrical designs comply with all regulations and standards. This position is for a SmartPlant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and SmartSketch designs to support Poland AP1000 Project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Poland AP1000 project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment with Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to):Supporting, coaching, and training less experienced designers.Modeling of electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, underground distribution (such as conduit duct bank), lighting, receptacles, etc. in a Smartplant 3D model environment.Creating bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modelled items listed above in addition to grounding, lightning protection, support details, and other details using SmartSketch and AutoCAD.Performing calculations utilizing AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts.Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines.Responsible for physical design implementation by producing drawings of interior and exterior layouts/plans/elevation views of the raceway design (conduit/cable tray/duct bank), equipment location and layout, lighting layouts, lightning protection layouts, and grounding plans.Coordinate with systems engineering department to establish and verify design/project requirements.Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry-proven concepts, and procedures. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Major Responsibilities:Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size Electrical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unitProduces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing. Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of Electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and draftersCommunicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper managementFacilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)Prepares or oversees the preparation of Electrical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordinglyDevelops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practicesCoordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of workReviews key Electrical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summariesMentors Electrical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional developmentAssists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change ordersEducation and Experience Requirements:Requires AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experienceMust be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.Required Knowledge and Skills:Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.Must be able to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the database.Ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards.Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.Hands-on and advanced experience using Smartplant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD.
