Temporary Job PositionRole: Blood Extraction SpecialistLocation: Franklin, WIShift: Night shiftProjected length: 3 months with possibility for permanent placementBenefits are includedDescriptionThe primary role of a blood extraction specialist is to aid in conducting various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and providing suggestions for workflow improvement.ResponsibilitiesExperience with blood withdrawals, identifying samples, spinning samples, documenting maintenance information and decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Gathering and storing specimens following specified protocols. Clearly and politely explaining the venipuncture (blood withdrawal) process and/or other specimen collection (e.g. urine or feces) as needed. Demonstrating techniques using standard needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehending all physician orders. Matching lab requisition forms to sample tubes. Labeling, spinning, dividing, and freezing samples based on test orders. Verifying all test requisitions or computer labels against prescriptions for 100% accuracy. Preparing samples for transportation. Storing sample in designated temperature, placing samples in correct collection container/tube, labeling accurately, following various procedures as specified by transport protocol to ensure sample integrity. Understanding and adhering to OSHA and DEP regulations. Participating in annual departmental training. Answering phone calls, reading lab results to address inquiries.RequirementsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where necessary. At least six months of experience performing venipunctures in a busy lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED at least 1 year of relevant experience
