Reports To: High School Principal

Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

• Helps to resolve student and staff conflict and be a mediator for student conflict.
• Responsible for application of student code of conduct resulting in student discipline (up to 5 days of suspension).
• Collaborates with teachers, counselors, safety officer, and administrators to enhance safety and student discipline.
• Knowledgeable about restorative practices, PBIS, and alternatives to suspension.
• Coordinates implementation of PBIS.
• Responsible for maintaining records Powerschool and Incidents+.
• Monitor, collect data, and prepare reports regarding attendance and student behaviors.
• Provides support for supervision on school grounds during school and at school events when requested by Associate Principal and Principal.
• Coordinate detentions and in-school suspension.
• Restorative reinstatement meeting with students returning from suspension.
• Demonstrates ability to provide leadership that results in teamwork and collaborative working relationships.
• Able to prioritize issues and maintain professionalism while working in tense situations.
• Able to be compassionate and understanding while keeping students accountable for their actions.
• Able to communicate orally and in writing to students, staff, and parents.
• Knowledge of federal and state mandates.
• Demonstrates a willingness to take professional risks to improve opportunities for students.
• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises high school students.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

1. Four-year degree.

2. Preference given to candidates with valid teaching/counseling, social work or behavior intervention background.

3. Experience working with at risk and diverse student population.

4. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
