Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (3x12) | 36 or 48 hours per week expected | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for a Medical Surgical population including patients with orthopedic trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, subdural hematoma, and neurological conditions
• Manage heparin drips, PCA, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and IV starts
• Perform colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, wound care, surgical drain management, and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
• Manage tracheostomy care, oral suctioning, non-invasive airway management, O2 protocol, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Document accurately using Epic EMR; Epic documentation experience is required
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed; contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical RN experience within the last 5 years
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:5–6
• Epic documentation experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and management of drips
• Experience with CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, or spinal cord injuries
