SUMMARY Monitors attendance of students. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MENTAL TASKS Communicates. Performs functions from written and oral instructions. Evaluates written materials. PHYSICAL TASKS Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, holding, and grasping objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions. Assistance is available in the event heavy physical exertion is required. Work may involve occasional lifting and carrying weights up to 25 pounds. Moderate walking, stooping, bending, reaching and sitting for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability will be required of public contact positions. EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS Utilize office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers. SUMMARY Monitors attendance of students. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in an educational setting or in an office or with attendance procedures
- Knowledge of computers
- Ability to use an automated attendance tracking system
- Basic math skills
- Verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education
- Ability to obtain an AZ DPS Level one Fingerprint Card
- Good organizational skills
- Strong people skills
- Reviews and verifies students' absence notes. Receives incoming phone calls from school staff regarding student absences.
- Makes home visits to investigate causes for students' attendance problems. Advises parents of attendance policies. Identifies problems in the home and how they affect the student's attendance. Reports students who have excessive unexcused absences for In-house suspension or In-house detention.
- Confers with parents and students regarding attendance problems. Visits parents at home and collaborates with them to evaluate if the student should stay in school or attend an alternative program such as Alternative Instruction Program (AIP), High Risk, or Transition. Makes recommendations to the site administrator or arranges for professional services
- Develop and participate in existing school activities for the benefit of the students having attendance problems or adjusting to a new school
- Recognize situations that indicate potential for increased communication and understanding between students, parents, and school personnel
- Review attendance records to identify students with excessive absences. Investigate causes of absences and confer with students
- Collaborate with students and parents to determine programs suitable for students, (TEAM Program, daily progress reports, detention, etc.)
- Serve as a resource to the Child Study Team(s)
- Facilitate the re-entry of students into school
- Make recommendations to the administrative staff regarding the enrollment/withdrawal of a student(s) from school
- Assist in identifying high-risk students enrolled or entering high school
- Assist with Success Academy and other student retention programs
- Coordinate all attendance work between home and school and all staff
- Assist the school's registrar and school administration to enforce district policies for student attendance
- Communicate with parents regarding the importance of school attendance for academic success and the school's label
- Keep administration informed of progress on attendance issues and retention issues
- Collaborates with teachers and administration on ways to improve student attendance
- Other duties to support programs as assigned by the administration
