Requisition #: 666104 Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD 21287 Category: Nursing Support/Patient Care Schedule: Night Shift Employment Type: Part‑time Patient Care Tech I – PCT – Ortho Trauma Surgery The Ortho Trauma General Surgery Unit is a 32‑bed acute care surgical inpatient unit with telemetry monitoring that provides care to primarily orthopedic, ortho‑spine, trauma, and general surgery patients. Common diagnoses and surgical procedures include open reductions, external fixation applications, intermedullary nail insertions, joint replacements, laminectomies, spinal fusions, post‑motor vehicle accident with multiple traumas, post‑violent crimes, spinal cord tumors, small bowel obstructions, and abscess irrigation and debridement. Most patients admitted are transferred from intensive care units, post‑anesthesia care units, and the emergency room. This fast‑paced environment offers many learning opportunities and uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that promotes teamwork between physicians, nursing staff, care management, therapy, and a variety of other disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care.
