Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring safe use of radioactive materials and operation of sophisticated imaging equipment. This role involves preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes, producing diagnostic images, and maintaining compliance with radiation safety protocols. The technologist works independently within a supportive team environment to deliver exceptional patient care and maintain accurate records. Responsibilities:

• Perform Nuclear Medicine and PET scans following established protocols safely.
• Determine appropriate radionuclide dosage and type under Radiologist guidance.
• Order, prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes within licensing limits.
• Receive, store, and dispose of radioactive materials according to regulatory standards.
• Prepare stock solutions and calculate dosages of radioactive materials.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, intravenously, or intradermally.
• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals to produce diagnostic images and process exam results.
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosages used and disposed of.
• Maintain radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) for self and patients.
• Monitor patient well-being during exams and respond to discomfort or medical issues.
• Provide patient guidance and education throughout procedures with a customer service attitude.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures and materials used.
• Operate imaging equipment according to standard guidelines.
• Maintain a safe work environment and manage inventory of supplies.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT or CNMT) or board eligible.
• Minimum of 2 years Nuclear Medicine experience.
• Ability to work independently and comply with NYS regulations.

• At least 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

• Must adhere to radiation safety procedures and licensing requirements.
• Work involves handling radioactive materials and maintaining compliance with NYS Sanitary Code.
• No weekend or on-call duties during assignment.

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 8-hour shifts.
• Weekends off.
• 8-week assignment duration.
