Location: SEL Schools including: CPC Academies and Levi Anderson in Beaverton; Meadowlark Academy in St. Helens
Reports To: Coordinator - SPED
Compensation: Per negotiated contract, Licensed Salary Schedule
Bargaining Unit: NWEA
FTE: 0.50 FTE - 20 hours per week
Work Days: 192
Mission Statement: In partnership with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD improves student learning by providing equitable access to high quality services and support.
General Duties: In alignment with the NWRESD's mission statement, as a member of an educational team, the SLP's goal is to facilitate a child's/student's communication competence, which is critical for positive educational outcomes. A core role of the SLP is to participate in a variety of teams, which involves team decision-making in the area of general education intervention, evaluation, eligibility, and services. SLP's plan and implement ongoing speech and language programs/services in conjunction with other educational services provided by the school districts. SLP's work with students who exhibit the full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing.

1. Licensure through the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology
2. Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
3. Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish, preferred
4. Experience with children with a variety of disabilities and needs
5. Valid Driver's License; available transportation and proof of auto insurance.

Essential Functions: Include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.
A. Ensure that all students receive high-quality, culturally and linguistically sensitive competent services.
B. Demonstrate awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity in the area of language acquisition with linguistically and/or culturally diverse populations.
C. Provide intervention that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of individual students and is selected through an evidence-based decision-making process in accordance with the IEP/IFSP documentation.
D. Design school-wide speech-language services that employ a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities and implement a variety of service delivery models, including pull-out, in-class, and consultation.
E. Address social, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on the attainment of educational goals.
F. Consult and collaborate with teachers and parents to increase access to language in the curriculum in order to support development in the area of literacy across the language processes of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
G. Identify appropriate instructional strategies, modifications, and/or accommodations in collaboration with the educational team.
H. Identify, implement, and support students with the use of augmentative communication devices.
I. Maintain appropriate records and reports (if applicable, including Medicaid billing).
J. Screen and identify communication disorders in children with special needs.
K. Act as a member of the multidisciplinary team during the assessment process and evaluate students/children in the area of articulation, voice, fluency, and language impairments.
L. Develop and maintain accurate information regarding IEP / IFSP records in accordance with special education and district guidelines, timeline, and processes to meet individual student needs.
M. Prepare and complete documentation on time, including speech and language evaluations, progress reports, transition reports, and student data collection system.
N. Attend and participate in team, school, and district meetings as necessary.
O. Access and attend professional development to increase knowledge and provide high-quality services.
P. Conduct hearing screenings, as necessary.
Q. May be involved with mentoring and/or supervision of graduate SLP students, clinical fellows, and/or new SLPs on the team (per licensure guidelines).
R. May supervise SLP-Assistants and/or paraprofessionals (per licensure guidelines).
S. Drive between locations as required.
T. Perform other job duties as assigned.
