Details 27-bed General Medicine unit caring for patients with respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal conditions Patient ratio of 1:5 Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Every other weekend required 36 or 48 hour weekly schedules available 13-week contract length Block scheduling cannot be accommodated Required to float within scope of practice per facility policy Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA or compact RN license (pending licenses accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I experience preferred Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care (preferred), heparin protocols, and PCA Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac Skilled in IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration Experience managing renal failure patients Two professional references required Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required Nursys license verification required with submission Additional Information Provide direct patient care for a diverse medical population with multiple comorbidities Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday No more than 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract; no time off will be approved around Labor Day No radius restriction for this unit Previous UVA permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that limit is reached, regardless of time away American Traveler Job ID P-748051.
