Summary of Job

If you are an experienced accounting professional with payroll processing experience and a desire to advance your career, we'd love to speak with you! The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting duties including processing payroll (salary, hourly, union) on a weekly basis as well as assisting the Controller with A/P, A/R, General Ledger, month-end close, reporting, audits and analysis of financial statements. Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in processing payrolls and general accounting. A deep understanding of payroll regulations and compliance is required. Will collaborate with various departments including HR, Engineering and Plant Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees on a weekly basis (salaried and hourly workforce) utilizing Paylocity
  • Create and enhance payroll processing procedures to improve workflow and efficiency
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll 
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Analyze and reconcile any payroll related issues to ensure accuracy 
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed
  • Review and reconcile monthly invoices from carriers and approve for payment
  • Fund 401(k) and Health Savings Accounts. 
  • Assist with contractor billing to ensure timely billing and collections
  • Understand financial systems and processes (Sage 300, Paylocity, Timberline) to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of A/P, A/R, Billing, General Ledger, reporting, audits and analysis of financial statements. 
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. 
  • At least three to five years proven experience in a financial role within a manufacturing/construction environment that includes payroll processing. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and accounting principles
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software is required. Paylocity experience is a plus.
