VASNHCS provides healthcare professionals with access to cutting-edge equipment, a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, and the opportunity to serve those who served our country.MRI Technologist – ResponsibilitiesPerform all MRI examinations including routine and complex diagnostic studies of the brain, spine, musculoskeletal system, abdomen, pelvis, and vascular structuresFunction as an expert regarding MRI software and hardware capabilities, selecting proper pulse sequences and optimizing system parameters for optimal image qualityScreen patients for MRI contraindications including implanted devices, metallic foreign bodies, and claustrophobia; ensure patient safety throughout all proceduresCoordinate the MRI patient examination schedule, prioritizing critical and emergency proceduresAssist with MRI-guided procedures including breast imaging and MR-guided biopsies using sterile techniquePerform venipuncture and administer contrast material for MRI examinations as necessaryMaintain quality assurance programs for the MRI system, laser imager, and patient monitoring equipment; perform daily quality control checksServe as liaison between the MRI department, engineering, and equipment manufacturers; facilitate software updates, hardware updates, and service callsMonitor PACS system to ensure images are properly archived and transferred for radiologic interpretationCross-train radiologic technologists in MRI physics, positioning, coil selection, and MRI safetyMRI Technologist – QualificationsCurrent ARRT registration in Radiography (R) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)Current BLS/BCLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience in a hospital or medical center settingProficiency with multiple MRI systems and PACS; knowledge of MRI physics and safety protocolsKnowledge of IV contrast administration and recognition of adverse reactionsVA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not requiredMonday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
