Financial Analyst

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst is responsible for managing the financial planning, budgeting, and procurement processes for all software and hardware acquisitions. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing, contract compliance, accurate financial forecasting, and strong vendor relationships, while partnering closely with program, IT, and contracts teams to support organizational technology needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end financial management of software and hardware procurement, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.

• Develop and manage procurement budgets; monitor spend against budget and report variances.

• Review, negotiate, and approve purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor contracts/renewals for IT assets.

• Partner with IT, program managers, and contracts/legal to align procurement activity with project and contract requirements.

• Analyze vendor pricing, licensing models, and total cost of ownership to identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Maintain accurate financial records for capital and operating expenditures related to technology purchases.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, government contracting requirements (e.g., FAR/DFARS, as applicable), and audit standards.

• Track asset lifecycle costs, including depreciation, renewals, and disposal, in coordination with IT asset management.

• Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses for leadership on procurement spend and trends.

• Manage relationships with software/hardware vendors and resellers, including invoice reconciliation and dispute resolution.

• Support month-end/year-end close activities related to procurement accruals and capitalization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Associate degree +2 years additional relevant experience, or 4 years additional relevant experience can be substituted.

• 4+ years of experience in financial management, procurement, or contract finance, preferably supporting IT/technology purchasing.

• Strong understanding of procurement processes, vendor contracts, and software licensing structures.

• Proficiency in financial systems and ERP tools (e.g., [Insert: SAP, Oracle, Deltek, etc.]).

• Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial reporting and budgeting tools.

• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a government contracting environment (federal, DoD, civilian agency).

• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS procurement regulations.

• Experience with IT asset management or software asset management (SAM) tools.

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
