CNC Programmer

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer with dedicated experience in an exhibit production environment . In this role, you will bridge the gap between Detailing and manufacturing by developing and optimizing CNC programs for our automated routing and cutting machinery. You will ensure the maximum yield of materials, absolute product precision, and optimal machine cycle times while collaborating closely with the Detailing department and Shop floor production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Programming & Software Utilization: Write, test, edit, and optimize 2D, 3D, and multi-axis CNC programs, including 4-axis toolpaths, using CAM software such as Mastercam.
• Blueprint Analysis: Read and interpret complex exhibit shop drawings, technical drawings, 3D models, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to establish accurate cutting and boring profiles.
• Material & Tool Selection: Select the appropriate cutting tools, router bits, diamond tooling, speeds, and feeds based on the properties of hardwood, plywood, MDF, acrylic, aluminum, steel, and other sheet goods.
• Simulation & Testing: Run computer simulations and trial test runs before production to identify programming errors, potential collisions, and risks of tool or machine damage.
• Machine Setup & Troubleshooting: Perform initial setups and dry runs on the machine controller; diagnose and correct program errors on the Shop floor; edit G-code as needed; and improve cycle times and production efficiency.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct regular dimensional checks using calipers, tape measures, and micrometers to ensure completed pieces match exact design tolerances.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining or programming experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving wood, cabinetry, or exhibit fabrication; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Technical Software: Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM software, including Mastercam X9 or newer, as well as working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Machining Knowledge: Strong knowledge of multi-axis CNC routers, including 3-, 4-, or 5-axis systems, and flat-table nesting equipment.
• G-Code Fluency: The ability to write, read, and edit G-code formulas on the fly.
• Attention to Detail: Demonstrated precision when reading measurements and verifying components with tape measures and calipers to ensure work meets design tolerances.
