Scientific Program Manager

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the premier international membership association for physicians, researchers, and medical professionals, who are dedicated to conquering lung and thoracic cancers worldwide. We are seeking a Scientific Program Manager to manage and implement the research grants program and career development initiatives that benefit the IASLC’s multidisciplinary membership. Day to day, the Scientific Program Manager is responsible for the management and execution of our global grant and award programs. This position also provides oversight and management for a portfolio of career development initiatives. This position requires scientific expertise as well as a mission-oriented focus and exceptional communication skills. This exempt, supervisory position is physically based in our downtown Denver, CO office on a hybrid work schedule. This position reports to the Chief Science & Education Officer. This is not a remote-only position, and relocation assistance is not available. In this role, you will: Manage the IASLC Career Development portfolio of programs designed to develop, support, and sustain thoracic researchers throughout their careers. Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Career Development Committee, collaborating with physicians and researchers and providing project management and administrative support. Work effectively across internal departments to manage global Career Development programs, including program design, application processes, application review coordination, participant selection, and execution of virtual and in-person activities. Programs include the IASLC Academy, International Mentorship Program, and Leadership Development Program. Manage multiple IASLC global grant and award programs, from program development through post-award tracking. Provide effective supervision and development for the Grants Coordinator. Help develop, execute, and manage budgets, contracts, and agreements. Track expenditures and suggest cost-saving measures. Support the preparation and development of scientific and medical content for grants, proposals, website, project materials, and publications. Proactively implement organizational and project management tools and software to increase work efficiency and standardize departmental processes and workflows. Communicate scientific and medical content to a variety of audiences. A successful candidate will have the following qualifications: Graduate degree in a scientific, public health, or healthcare field. PhD, PharmD, or similar advanced degree strongly preferred. Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant work experience in a project management or healthcare administration role. US citizenship or valid US permanent resident status required. Prior experience in grants management and/or professional career development programs. Scientific or medical background or knowledge in lung cancer or oncology. Understanding of career development pathways for scientists and healthcare professionals. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple scientific committees and/or projects, including project timelines, schedules, and documentation. Previous work experience in a nonprofit, scientific, medical, research or academic organization preferred. Proficiency in using technology with ability to learn additional software quickly and effectively. Ability to work flexible hours when required. Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of IASLC business needs, as needed (5-10%). Multicultural sensitivity and deep appreciation and respect for international differences. Hybrid work schedule. Employees are based in our Denver office 2 days weekly and are allowed to work remotely 3 days per week.
