Job DescriptionOlsen Family Law is a boutique California family law firm with a focus on high-net-worth clients and financially sophisticated matters, including complex dissolution, custody, support, and premarital work in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz counties, with a statewide premarital practice.\n\nWe are looking for an experienced family law attorney who can independently manage matters, exercise sound judgment, and take meaningful responsibility for clients and case strategy. This is a strong fit for an attorney who has developed a solid foundation in California family law and is ready to continue growing into more complex matters and greater lead-attorney responsibility.\n\nWe are specifically looking for someone local to the Bay Area who wants to be an active part of the firm. This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of working from our office 2–3 days per week.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n Independently manage a caseload of California family law matters\n Develop and execute case strategy with limited supervision\n Take primary responsibility for client relationships, deadlines, and day-to-day case management\n Draft and argue motions and handle contested hearings, negotiations, mediations, and other court appearances\n Work on dissolution, custody, support, and premarital matters, including financially sophisticated cases\n Conduct discovery, prepare matters for settlement and trial, and work closely with experts where appropriate\n Delegate work effectively to associate attorneys, paralegals, and support staff\n Collaborate with other attorneys on complex legal and strategic issues\n Participate in prospective-client consultations\n Continue developing the skills and judgment necessary to lead increasingly complex matters\n\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n $145,000 to $180,000 base salary, depending on experience\n Performance-based bonuses\n 1,320 annual billable-hour expectation, designed to support high-quality work and a sustainable workload\n Hybrid schedule with approximately 2–3 days per week in office\n Substantive responsibility and the opportunity to take the lead on your own matters\n Exposure to complex and financially sophisticated family law cases\n A clear path for continued advancement as your experience, independence, and responsibilities grow\n A collaborative team that invests in one another's success\n Health, dental, vision, and life insurance\n 401(k)\n Three weeks PTO plus paid holidays\n Half-day Fridays\n CLE, CA Bar dues, and professional development covered\n\n\nWho We're Looking For\n\n Approximately 4–8 years of California family law experience\n Active California State Bar license in good standing\n Experience independently managing family law matters from inception through resolution\n Strong knowledge of California family law procedure, discovery, disclosures, and motion practice\n Experience handling contested hearings, negotiations, and mediations\n Strong legal writing, analytical, and client-management skills\n Comfortable taking ownership of matters while knowing when to collaborate or ask for input\n Able to manage difficult client situations with sound judgment and appropriate expectations\n Comfortable delegating work to and collaborating with attorneys and support staff\n Familiarity with practice in Santa Clara, San Mateo, or Santa Cruz counties is a plus\n Able to work from our office approximately 2–3 days per week\n Available for in-person court appearances in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz counties\n Self-directed, collaborative, organized, and interested in continuing to grow as a family law attorney\n\nTo Apply\nApply through LinkedIn or send your resume directly to View email address on click.appcast.io with the subject line: Experienced Family Law Attorney.
