Account Executive, frontier AI research lab
I'm running this search directly for a frontier AI research lab. They're hiring their first dedicated Account Executive.
The lab works on interpretability: methods for understanding what happens inside large AI models. The research is published and well regarded, and the product is already in production with large enterprises and leading research and healthcare organizations. The company is very well funded and has real revenue.
This is an early go-to-market seat with no sales playbook in place yet. You would build it.
What the role involves:
- Owning complex sales cycles end to end, across two areas: language and reasoning, and robotics and vision.
- Selling to technical buyers. CTOs, Heads of AI, and research leaders who expect you to understand the product at a real level.
- Sourcing your own pipeline and running technical discovery without a sales engineer carrying the conversation.
- Building the first version of the sales motion and the playbook behind it.
What I'm looking for:
- You've sold a technical product to engineers, ML teams, or researchers.
- You joined a company early, before its brand did the selling for you, and you have the performance record to show you close when the motion is unproven. Named recognition, top-rep finishes, or quota over-attainment with real numbers.
- You can carry a conversation about models, infrastructure, or agents on your own.
- You work well without a playbook and prefer it that way.
Useful backgrounds: AI and ML, dev tools, data and ML infrastructure, robotics, autonomy, or security. Startup or research-lab pedigree. Location: San Francisco, in office. Comp: top of market, with meaningful equity.
