Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Profession: Allied Anesthesia Tech Specialty: Anesthesia Tech Duration: 1 Year Contract Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Two Years License: BLS Certifications: Preferred certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body Must-Have: - Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech - BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) Description: Under limited direct supervision, assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival. Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment. Ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies. Set up medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists and other clinicians to ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and placement of central line catheters. Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports. Participate in advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma. Work directly with service-specific faculty. Provide on-call coverage as needed. Ensure that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order and complete preventive maintenance. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment, performing advanced troubleshooting as required. Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs. Help train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting. Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors. Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors. Set up rooms between cases and set up carts throughout the day. Provide full service setup at the end of the day. Work with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Perform setup and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care. Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
