Industrial Wastewater Program Lead - Power Practice

Industrial Wastewater (IWW) Program Lead – Power Practice HDR seeks an experienced Industrial Wastewater Program Lead to drive business development and engineering design for the Power Practice across North America. The role requires at least ten (10) years of direct experience with industrial water/wastewater treatment systems for the power industry and the ability to lead teams of engineers, designers, and managers on detailed design and owner’s engineer projects. Responsibilities Lead business development of IWW services for the Power Practice, including proposal development and technical presentations. Collaborate with other business development teams and serve as a subject‑matter expert on strategic projects. Provide technical leadership on front‑end projects, develop business case studies, and support client engagement. Lead the design of complex industrial process W/WW systems, including mass balance calculations, equipment sizing, and procurement specifications. Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and installation details. Review and evaluate equipment vendor and contractor proposals and submittals. Develop and execute QA/QC plans and maintain project documentation. Lead technical teams of engineers, EITs, designers, and drafters. Work directly with project managers and clients to ensure projects meet or exceed expectations. Prepare water supply and discharge agreements, permits, and coordinate with permitting authorities. Provide internal and external training on industrial process W/WW systems. Implement and monitor company policies and support technical personnel development. Recommend client facility monitoring systems, lab/chemical management procedures, and staff training plans. Actively participate in industry conferences and publish at least one technical paper annually. Preferred Qualifications Process modeling experience. Existing relationships with industrial clients. Project engineering and management experience in a consulting or EPC firm. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field. Minimum ten (10) years of related experience. Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience. Experience developing and managing diverse teams. Cooperative work with regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts. Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values. Active participation in an employee‑owned culture. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary ranging from $170,000 to $230,000 per year based on experience, education, and location.
