Assistant Manager

Location: Pensacola, Florida. Our Assistant Store Managers are the front line of customer service, driving results in a high‑energy environment dedicated to pet care. Responsibilities Assist and lead the Shift Managers, Shift Leads, and Sales Associates to provide world‑class service. Drive sales, service, and customer experience initiatives to meet sales KPIs and store performance goals. Monitor customer service standards, resolve complaints, and direct work as needed. Recognize and celebrate team accomplishments. Maintain professionalism in verbal, written, and electronic communication. Ensure a safe, clean store environment and maintain cleanliness and well‑being of livestock, feeding, and animal care. Motivate, coach, develop, and performance manage staff focused on the expected customer experience. Review and distribute store communications; ensure timely action. Uphold company values and represent them accurately. Maintain brand standards and operational excellence. Manage the fish inventory system—ordering, inventory, and budgeting. Assist with inventory ordering, ordering within budget, accuracy of physical inventories, and meeting shrink goals. Create a team‑oriented environment through role plays, contests, and training. Assist the Store Manager with labor hour management to meet customer needs and compliance. Lead training, new hire checklists, sales techniques, and new product launches. Assign day‑to‑day tasks while training associates for future success. Partner with the Store Manager on performance management and corrective actions. Assist with hiring needs, develop staffing plans, pre‑screen, interview, and refer candidates. Plan and execute community events and build relationships with rescue agencies. Understand and monitor daily business performance; react to business needs. Qualifications Minimum 2 years in a retail management role. College degree preferred. Ability to work a flexible, rotating schedule, including at least 2 closing shifts per week, full weekend shifts, and weekend off when coverage permits. Valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle. Physical stamina: heavy lifting up to 55 lbs, standing, moving, and occasional inventory ordering. Good hearing and observation skills for customer and employee interactions. Capacity to work in temperature‑stable environments and handle occasional isolation.
