Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician works under the supervision of the manager or designee in maintaining, disinfecting, sterilizing, and processing surgical instruments and supplies. Key Responsibilities Maintain a clean, orderly work area while handling various types of equipment, instruments, and supplies used during surgical procedures. Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation, equipment and supplies for the OR and other areas as needed. Keep accurate quality control records regarding Bowie‑Dick tests, biologics, and individual load records. Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies for the Sterile Processing department and order as needed. Transport sterile supplies and equipment to other areas of the hospital. Maintain and care for equipment and supplies; document maintenance and repairs. Maintain department records, reports and files as required. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs. Consistently provide accurate and complete hand‑off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy. Attend at least 80% of all department meetings and review and initial all department minutes missed. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Certified Sterile Processing Technician – certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. Relevant work experience (less than 1 year). High School Diploma or GED.
