Environmental Advisor

Whether you studied marine science or grew up fixing gear and hauling trailers, we care about how you work - not just how you got here. Our Environmental Advisors are in the water, at the nursery, and across project sites doing the hands-on work of aquatic restoration. You'll plant seagrass in challenging conditions, maintain living plant stock, monitor project progress, and keep things moving when plans shift. It's not glamorous. It is meaningful. You might be a fit if: You know your way around tools, trucks, and boats You've spent more time in fins than in dress shoes You've figured things out without a manual - more than once You use tech when it makes things easier, because more efficiency means more time doing what matters Location and Travel If you love being on the move, this role delivers. We work across Florida - from the Keys to the Panhandle and everywhere in between. Expect to travel regularly with your team, staying on-site for up to four nights a week. Fridays are half days: field time, travel, or office wrap-up depending on where the project stands. We fully cover mileage and per diem. Reliable transportation is required, and a willingness to embrace the adventure of fieldwork is key. What You Do Restore Habitats: Plant seagrass and aquatic vegetation. Get wet. Get muddy. Make a real impact. Fix and Repair: No manual? No problem. You'll troubleshoot and solve issues as they came-sometimes on the fly. Prioritize Safety: Follow protocols, handle equipment properly, and keep yourself and your team safe. Support the Team: Collaborate with biologists, project managers, and other techs to get the job done. Care for Aquatic Plants: Help grow and maintain the plants used in restoration projects. Adapt to the Unexpected : Weather shifts, gear breaks, schedules change-you stay flexible and focused. Grow Your Skills: Learn new tools, cross-train, and step into more responsibility over time. Digitally & Technically Savvy - You understand that clean data supports operational clarity. you're comfortable using software and mobile tools for research, data analysis, project tracking, and more. Field-Ready & Self-Directed - you're willing and able to travel regularly between sites. you manage your schedule responsibly and understand timelines are about the project and its impact. You hold a valid driver's license and are comfortable towing trailers. Systems-Oriented & Practical - You don't just fix and maintain - you build simple, repeatable systems that improve reliability, visibility, and accountability across equipment and teams. Safety-Driven in the Field - You use real-world conditions to identify risks early. You ensure equipment and safety items are where they need to be and help the team operate safely through practical, field-based guidance. Physically Capable - you're comfortable lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors, in heat, around water, and in dynamic field environments. Calm Under Pressure - When breakdowns happen, you stay steady. You bring solutions, not frustration. You explain issues simply and directly - building trust with crews and leadership alike. Operationally Aware - You understand how equipment, people, and timing connect. You can help align assets with project needs and contribute to smoother, more efficient operations over time. Physical Demands & Work Environment This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to active project sites. The position involves extended time on the road and may require early departures, overnight travel, or schedule flexibility based on operational needs. The essential physical demands of this role include: Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment up to 50 pounds (with assistance for heavier items) Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working in tight or confined spaces Climbing in and out of boats, trailers, and equipment Standing and walking for extended periods Working outdoors in varying weather and marine conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, mud, and uneven terrain Operating hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, vehicles, and trailers This role requires a valid driver's license, the ability to safely operate company vehicles and tow trailers, and comfort driving long distances between project sites.
