Purchasing Specialist

Job Title

Two year technical degree in Business, Procurement, related field or equivalent experience. At least 1 year of work experience in an office manufacturing environment. Must have competency with Microsoft Office products. Must be able to build relationships and communicate professionally with the ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operating (M.R.O.) supplies, machine components, capital expenditures, service contracts, tool fabrication, chemicals, office supplies, and selected direct material items.
• Resolving pricing and quantity discrepancies with suppliers on mismatched invoices and receivers in assigned area of responsibility.
• Providing clerical support for the Purchasing Department, including filing, vendor follow up/expediting, and record keeping.
• Obtaining prices and quotations covering specific needs or requests from various supporting departments.
• Corresponding with and handling communication from suppliers within assigned area of responsibility.
• Conducting sourcing procedures relative to locating better products and/or services required.
• Working with Inventory Control on specific stockroom programs and/or problems.
• Working with supervisory personnel to ensure that budgets are maintained.
• Attending relevant seminars and/or trade shows to keep up to date on current trends in the procurement field.
• Regular attendance, communication and meeting committed deadlines are all essential elements of the job. These requirements are key to the operation and effectiveness of this position and if not in place have the potential to impair and diminish expected results.
