Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Details Job Location: Delmar, MD 21875 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $20.00 - $35.00 Hourly Responsibilities Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer. Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments. Maintains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment. Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Completes dis‑assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly. Maintains records and accounts for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing customer and dealership equipment. Qualifications Willingness to learn. Experience working as a mechanic or technician on heavy construction, industrial or diesel equipment strongly preferred. Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification preferred. Recent and regular computer usage, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information strongly preferred. Excellent time management skills. Proficient oral and written communication skills. High School Diploma or equivalent experience required. Strong communication skill and self‑motivated. Physical Demands Physical Effort: Shop mechanics constantly work on machines in the shop and field technicians work on machines onsite at customer locations; requires the ability to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services, lift objects up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance, stand for long periods, kneel, bend, and lay on their backs. Working Conditions: Shop mechanics work on hard floors exposed to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, and loud noises; must follow strict safety procedures, proper equipment safety, and PPE. Field technicians work outdoors or onsite exposed to elements and similar hazards, required to maintain safety PPE and a safe driving record daily. Travel: Little to none for shop tech; daily for field tech.
