Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a general Emergency Department combined adult/pediatric unit requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patient populations
• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule includes Friday and Saturday shifts plus one additional weekday shift as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required and in hand at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
• NRP certification preferred
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards are not accepted
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG required
• Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and intubation
• Experience administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Experience managing pediatric and psychiatric emergency conditions including psychiatric holds and suicidal patients
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and apply splints for orthopedic trauma cases
• Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
• Local candidates are accepted for this role
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
