A Health Unit Coordinator assists physicians, patients, visitors, and staff by answering inquiries, managing communications, and maintaining updated resource lists. They coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and appointments while ensuring accurate dietary and facility service updates. Additionally, they report equipment issues and process work orders to maintain unit efficiency.

S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee's physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations. PAY RANGE:
$18.45 - $26.78 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, assembles, and maintains patient charts, ensuring accuracy and proper sequencing.
- Assists with patient transfers, arranging ambulance or air transport as needed.
- Supports discharge procedures by organizing and verifying chart documentation.
- Maintains patient logbooks, reference files, and efficiently manages computer entries.
- Transcribes physician orders under RN supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Orders and stocks unit supplies from Central Services and Materials Management.
- Updates reference books and Policy/Procedure manuals to ensure current guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and transcribe physician orders.
- Preferred knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills.
- Strong communication skills to interact courteously with staff, patients, and visitors.
