Lead Auto Body Technician / Painter

Schell-Baroth Auto Center is a locally owned automotive service and collision repair company specializing in mechanical repairs, vehicle maintenance, auto-body repair, painting, and refinishing. Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and experienced Auto Body Technician/Painter who wants to grow with our company and eventually lead the day-to-day operations of our body shop.

This is a hands-on position for someone experienced in collision repair, bodywork, surface preparation, painting, and refinishing. The right candidate will initially perform repairs while helping us develop and expand the body-shop department.

As the department grows, this position can advance into a Body Shop Lead or Body Shop Manager role. This person will oversee only the body-shop and collision-repair operations and will work under the direction of our General Manager, who is responsible for the overall business, including the separate mechanical department.

Responsibilities

• Perform collision and auto-body repairs
• Remove, repair, and replace damaged body panels
• Complete dent repair, metalwork, welding, and body alignment
• Prepare vehicles and parts for painting
• Perform paint matching, mixing, spraying, blending, and refinishing
• Disassemble and reassemble vehicles as required
• Inspect completed repairs for quality and safety
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe body-shop work area
• Help establish efficient repair procedures and workflows
• Coordinate body-shop jobs, materials, parts, and scheduling
• Communicate job progress and repair needs to the General Manager
• Help train and oversee future body-shop employees as the department grows
• Ensure body-shop work is completed properly and on schedule

Qualifications

• Previous professional auto-body and collision-repair experience
• Painting and refinishing experience
• Ability to complete body repairs independently
• Knowledge of panel replacement, body alignment, surface preparation, and paint application
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple repair jobs
• Strong work ethic and leadership potential
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work well with customers, coworkers, and management
