AP & AR Specialist

Job Summary Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 annual base salary Reports To: AP/AR Accounting Manager Work Location: LaSalle Plaza – Downtown Minneapolis, on-site Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am – 5pm (occasional early mornings, evenings, or special events as needed) Hempel Real Estate is a commercial real estate firm that specializes in new and adaptive re‑use projects. This role seeks a highly detail‑oriented AP & AR Specialist responsible for processing invoices, collecting payments, maintaining financial records, and supporting overall cash flow and financial integrity. Key Responsibilities Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and timely Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents Assist with the weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls Monitor accounts for incoming payments and apply payments accurately Assist with the reconciliation of customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies Maintain accurate aging reports and communicate status to management Assist with month‑end close activities (e.g., reconciliations, accruals, reporting) Maintain organized financial records and documentation Support audits by providing requested documentation Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., property management, operations, HR, etc.) Other duties as assigned Minimum Skills & Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices Proficiency in accounting software (RealPage experience preferred) Strong Excel skills Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication and problem‑solving skills Desired Qualifications & Characteristics 2+ years of AP/AR or general accounting experience preferred Advanced proficiency in RealPage or similar accounting software Experience with commercial real estate accounting Highly dependable, resourceful, and team‑oriented Additional Requirements Ability to travel occasionally for team events and meetings or collaboration Exceptionally self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously Proactive communicator across email, verbal, and instant messaging Must be 18 years or older Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States Benefits Offered Medical insurance coverage – 90% covered by employer HSA‑eligible medical plans Dental insurance coverage Vision insurance 401(k) plan – 4% match on a 5% contribution Short‑term disability insurance Long‑term disability insurance Life insurance Accidental insurance Critical illness insurance Hospital indemnity insurance Employee assistance program (EAP) Pet insurance Unlimited planned paid time off Paid company holidays Family day Free downtown parking Class A onsite amenities: Fitness center Sauna Cold plunge Pickleball court Golf simulators Equal Opportunity Employer Hempel Real Estate is committed to building a diverse and inclusive work environment.
