Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG interpretation class Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in CCU or high-end stepdown unit. - Prefer 2 years of experience in telemetry. Description: CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK 2 OF THE 3 MAJOR HOLIDAYS. The unit is split into three segments. The first segment has 44 double occupancy rooms. The second segment consists of two units: one with 20 beds and another with 12 beds. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 except for one unit where the ratio is 1:3. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin. Experience in titration is not required. The charge nurse typically does not take a patient load. There are patient care technicians present, with varying numbers depending on the census. Respiratory therapy equipment is available, but vent experience is not required. All units have a monitor tech, and RNs must be able to read and interpret strips. Shifts are 12 hours long, starting at varying times throughout the day. There is no block scheduling, but modified self-scheduling may be granted based on staffing needs. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements include one major and one minor holiday. There is no call or standby requirement, and travelers are the first to float to other units as needed. Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented attitude are essential. One unit is known to be exclusive, necessitating very strong candidates. The atmosphere on the sixth floor is tight-knit, while the eighth floor presents additional challenges. Travelers are common on these units, but typically will not be sent to the sixth floor. The cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled within a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is Cerner. A COVID vaccine is required.
