Assistant Program Manager – Disaster Relief Location: Coppell, TX, United States Job Type: Full‑Time Overview The Assistant Program Manager supports the implementation of plans designed to further the ministry of the Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief program. Key responsibilities include recruitment and development of volunteer teams, providing training, recruiting churches, and ensuring deployment readiness. Responsibilities Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as an effective witness. Assist the Program Manager with all aspects of the response, focusing on homeowners, Site Leadership, and volunteers. Implement a volunteer training plan, conduct training sessions, and develop procedures with technical and content input. Conduct safety briefings for large audiences and enforce adherence to safety protocols. Foster relationships with churches, government agencies, and other relief organizations; recruit churches and local leaders to participate. Maintain awareness of disaster activity across the U.S. and monitor weather reports. Manage accurate listings and placement of all assigned disaster relief field inventory. Oversee financial transactions, submit activity reports, and lead staff meetings. Represent the ministry at conferences and speaking engagements. Follow Samaritan's Purse policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy Manual. Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers. Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, volunteers, vendors, beneficiaries, and the general public. Other duties as assigned that are not specifically identified in this description. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university and 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain a Class A restricted driver’s license and a valid Department of Transportation Medical Card. Working knowledge of general construction and chainsaw use. General proficiency with Excel and Word and capacity to learn in‑house specialized applications. Highly effective communication skills, including written and public speaking. Ability to work well under pressure in difficult situations with limited resources. Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions. Ability to build and maintain an effective team with ever‑changing personnel. Ability to perform the tasks required of volunteers. Ability to use data and statistics to determine volunteer needs, deployment duration, and forecast completion dates. 12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet this requirement will be provided upon hire.
