divh2Direct Support Professional/h2pUnder the general supervision of clinical or supervisory staff, the Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. DSPs assist and motivate individuals to meet their daily living needs and support the development of vocational, social, nutritional, and personal skills necessary to achieve the highest level of independence possible in the least restrictive environment./ppDSPs perform a wide range of routine and support tasks that vary based on the abilities of the individuals served and the residential setting./ph2Primary Responsibilities/h2ulliProvide personal care and health support, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration (per AMAP), vital signs, and medical appointments/liliSupport nutrition and mealtime activities, including meal preparation, safe food handling, and social dining skills/liliMaintain a safe, clean, and organized residential environment, including housekeeping, fire safety, and minor maintenance tasks/liliPromote individual development, independence, and community integration through skill-building, recreation, employment supports, and transportation/liliEncourage positive interpersonal relationships, communication skills, money management, and leisure activities/liliObserve, document, and report individual progress; participate in program planning, team meetings, and staff training/liliApply approved behavior management techniques and respond appropriately to emergencies/liliPerform other related duties as assigned/li/ulh2Knowledge, Skills Abilities/h2ulliKnowledge of OPWDD policies and applicable state and federal regulations/liliUnderstanding of active treatment and habilitation principles/liliStrong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills/liliAbility to work independently, manage challenging situations calmly, and operate a motor vehicle when required/li/ulh2Physical Requirements/h2ulliAbility to assist individuals with mobility and personal care/liliAbility to respond to behavioral and emergency situations/li/ulpEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
