Professor Position in Plastic Surgery

The Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is recruiting a new professor to join its ranks of highly skilled faculty. This faculty position will establish and lead a Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Center, and provide expertise in the treatment of various wounds and radiation induced tissue damage. In addition, this faculty position will also provide clinical expertise in reconstructive surgeries for cancer patients.

The incumbent must engage in academic research (clinical, translational, and/or basic science) and actively teach fellows, residents, and other trainees in Plastic Surgery as well as other disciplines. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited medical school with an M.D. or equivalent; have completed a residency training program in plastic surgery; be board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery; and be eligible for licensure in Texas. Candidates are expected to have completed at least 5 years as an Associate Professor or the equivalent of 15 years post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, or GME trainee. Must have expertise in wound care and HBOT with extensive experience leading a wound care and HBOT center. Candidates are required to have significant exposure to or experience in complex reconstruction and must also have extensive academic experience working in a major academic center with expertise in teaching and mentoring trainees, conducting clinical research, and publishing research articles. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, possess the utmost integrity and be a strong team player to ensure success and growth within the department. Candidates who have completed a formal reconstructive microsurgery fellowship are strongly preferred.
