Position: Research Scientist – Toxoplasma gondii / Host-Pathogen Interactions Type: Full-Time Location: Onsite, University of Michigan, Medical School Application Deadline: November 10, 2026 Category: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Job Opening ID: 270298 Overview The successful candidate will lead efforts to elucidate how the intracellular protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii exploits the host ESCRT machinery to support its growth. This involves applying biochemical, proteomic, and microscopy-based approaches to dissect ESCRT recruitment mechanisms and define the functional significance of parasite effector–host ESCRT interactions. Responsibilities Advance the project by critically engaging with current literature and generating innovative experimental strategies. Contribute to a collaborative research environment and mentor trainees. Share research findings through lab meetings, seminars, conferences, and publications. Required Qualifications PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. Strong expertise in proteomics and biochemical techniques. Minimum of five years of postdoctoral research experience investigating apicomplexan parasite/host interactions at the cellular and protein levels. Work Mode Onsite (hybrid or remote work is at department discretion).
