Providing training and career development opportunities and emphasizing strong support for our local communities through philanthropic initiatives are essential to our culture.For additional information please visit our website at .ResponsibilitiesProvide corporate finance legal advice and support, including working with outside counsel, senior officers and investment professionals within Oaktree’s Global Private Debt strategyNegotiate and execute portfolio company investments alongside other members of the deal team, primarily in credit-based investmentsAssist with preparing, reviewing and negotiating all loan documentation, including, financing grids, commitment papers, letters of intent, term sheets, credit agreements, intercreditor agreements and all ancillary agreements and deliverablesNegotiate and execute amendments, post-closing deliverables and other necessary items throughout the life of the investment alongside other members of the deal teamMentor, train and eventually take-on direct management responsibilities for more junior members of the legal team within Global Private DebtAssist with closing portfolio company investments, including working closely with Operations, Accounting and TaxResearch and review new market trends in private credit, secondary market trading, and cross-border transactionsParticipate in cross-departmental initiatives to design and implement firm-wide proceduresSupervise operations team members in their collection of counterparty KYC for Global Private Debt deals as neededProvide support on other transactional matters and special projectsExperience Required7+ years of legal experience at a top 100 law firm with an emphasis on finance and experience with sponsor lending, non-sponsor lending and syndicated facilities Experience with life science lending, mezzanine lending, cross-border transactions, and English law credit facilities as well as exposure to asset management, investment funds and other corporate transactional work is a plusIn-house candidates should have at least 5+ years of experience at a top law firm and current experience working within a credit-based investment teamExpert level knowledge of financing grids, credit agreements, security agreements, term sheets, letters of intent, commitment papers, and ancillary deal documentsExceptional writing, drafting and communication skillsProven ability to manage and train junior personnelProven capability in analyzing complex data, evaluating information and drawing logical conclusions and demonstrated ability to identify key issuesTrack record in planning and project management and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting deadlinesPersonal AttributesHigh level of integrity and professionalismHighly organized and detail orientedExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritize deliverables Ability to resolve stressful situations in a professional mannerAbility to work in a collaborative manner with other members of the investment team, other investment groups, and other global staff in Legal and Compliance, Tax, Accounting and other departmentsAbility to train, mentor and manage junior resourcesExercise senior business judgment and aware of when issues need to be escalatedEducationA Bachelor’s degree and a law degree is required.Base Salary Range:$250,000 - $275,000In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement.
