Certified Surgical Tech, First Assist (First Assist Surg Tech) - OR Job Type: PRN Schedule: 12-Hour Shifts Responsibilities Assist the surgeon during procedures by providing exposure, handling tissue, suturing, and controlling bleeding. Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready and properly handled. Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments and materials efficiently during procedures. Perform preoperative and postoperative duties, including patient positioning, skin preparation, and wound dressing. Ensure compliance with surgical protocols, aseptic techniques, and patient safety standards. Qualifications High School Diploma (or equivalent). Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Scrub Technicians. Certified Surgical First Assist certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required within 7 days of hire. One or more years of experience as a Surgical Scrub Technician; CSFA certification required. Specific knowledge of surgical procedures required. Extensive communication skills, team building skills, surgical assisting, and instrumentation skills required.
