Rethink Food is a chef-led nonprofit partnering with restaurants to better feed communities. Through strong partnerships with local restaurants and community-based organizations, we work with a responsive, hyperlocal network that provides culturally celebrated, nutritious meals. Since 2017, we've served over 30 million meals and reinvested more than $142 million into local economies.

Role Summary

The Rethink Trucking Team supports transportation for our Commissary Kitchen, Rethink Certified Program and Rethink's in-kind donations. The Trucking Team Member responsibilities span both driving and food distribution assistance. Non-CDL hourly: $23-25 per hour CDL hourly: $25-27 per hour Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please submit your application online.

Responsibilities:

• Completes the pre and post route checklist every shift; communicates any issues to Supervisor
• Safely transports food from donor to kitchen and from kitchen to CBO, filling out all required paperwork needed to document these processes, following the standard operating procedures
• Ensures all food contact equipment used is clean, dry and organized before starting on route
• Returns food donor equipment on truck routes, ensuring it is in good condition
• Picks up Rethink equipment from CBOs and delivers back to the Rethink kitchen
• Supports Trucking and Culinary team when needed; storing food in the walk in refrigerator in accordance with regulatory agencies' storage guidelines
• Maintains all safety guidelines; follows all traffic regulations, ensures trucks have gas and are operating normally throughout shift, follows Covid-19 protocol and wears appropriate PPE in the field
• Cleans trucks once a week
• Notifies Supervisor of any equipment breakage or issues throughout shift
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License from the Tri-State area and clean driving record
• Minimum 3 years commercial driving experience
• No more than one minor infraction on driving record in last 5 years
• Drivers are required to maintain a safe following distance at all times.
• Drivers are required to participate in driver training, including videos and in-person trainings as offered or otherwise, in accordance with company policy, which may be updated from time to time.
• Professional, reliable, enthusiastic
• Have a good attitude and willing to take instructions and work well with others
• Drive with caution and care
• Self motivated individual who takes initiative, and is always looking to grow and learn
• Ability to embrace an environment that is rapidly growing and changing to adapt to new business demands
• Must embrace the mission and core values of Rethink Food.
• Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials up to 50lbs

Please note: Rethink will conduct a motor vehicle report (abstract review) for all candidates considered Rethink Food has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy (with the exception of reasonable accommodation for religious or medical reasons).
