CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineering Technician

We are seeking a hands-on CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support daily CNC operations, develop and optimize programs, improve machining processes, and maintain revision control of the CNC program library. This role serves as a technical liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing by providing programming, tooling, setup, and troubleshooting support to help ensure efficient and accurate production.

Scope / Supervision and Interaction

This role reports to the Plant Manager. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician must be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills to share information and respond to questions from various departments and leadership teams.

Daily interaction occurs with production personnel, operators, and Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements and repairs.

Job Duties

CNC Programmer

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills and lathes (OSP-P controls).
• Manage the CNC Program Revision Control System and ensure approved program revisions are implemented.
• Maintain a secure and organized digital program library with consistent naming conventions.
• Determine speeds, feeds, tooling, inserts, and machining strategies for stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty materials.
• Support operators during first-article runs and process stabilization.
• Assist manufacturing personnel with setups, program edits, and troubleshooting.

Manufacturing Engineering Technician

• Design or modify tooling, fixtures, and jigs; use AutoCAD Inventor to create drawings that meet manufacturing tolerances.
• Implement fixture and process improvements to reduce setup time and improve repeatability.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and tools; assist with troubleshooting machining centers and related equipment.
• Support process optimization by analyzing production data (e.g., yield, defects, cycle time) and recommending improvements.
• Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues.
• Support equipment qualification, calibration, and maintenance activities to help ensure tools remain in proper working condition.
• Participate in equipment and process trials, changeovers, and new product introductions from engineering into manufacturing.
• Assist with maintaining documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, maintenance logs, and testing protocols.
• Utilize and maintain software systems for tracking tooling, spare parts, maintenance activities, and resource allocation.
• Follow applicable regulatory requirements, cleanroom procedures, and safety standards.
• Identify and communicate process, equipment, or quality deviations and assist with problem-solving activities.
• Follow safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Exercise sound judgment when addressing manufacturing issues and communicate concerns through appropriate channels.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $50.00/hr.
