At rhode, we are focused on creating intentional products with high standards for quality, performance, and aesthetic execution. We are looking for a Senior Manager, Product Development to lead product technical management and execution across our complexion, lip, cheek, and eye categories.

This role will work closely with Product Development, R&D, Quality, Operations, and external manufacturing partners to manage development submissions and batches, drive on-site approvals, and ensure formulas, shades, and production output meet our approved standards. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for color, texture, and product aesthetics, deep expertise in cosmetic batch review and production processes, and the organizational rigor to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously in a fast-paced development environment.

What You'll Do

Product Technical Management & Execution

• Manage development submissions and batches end-to-end, including post-production batch reviews, Standard renewals, and on-site shade matching auditing.
• Conduct on-site batch approvals, shade library “color jams”, shade adjustments, and fragrance work as needed for both NPI and existing production.
• Evaluate formulas, bulk, shades, and production submissions against approved standards and retains, maintaining brand excellence and quality.
• Manage product testing execution, including bulk preparation, sample requirements, testing facility communication, follow-ups and tracking, and internal Test Plan updates.
• Audit and Identify batch or submission execution concerns and provide clear recommendations to the team to support better organization and day-to-day project management, speed and agility.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Standards

• Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (PD, R&D, Quality, Operations) and contract manufacturers to communicate batch feedback, resolve issues, and keep production on timeline.
• Reestablish Production Standards on a 12-month cadence in partnership with PD.
• Maintain organized archives of standards, retains, and batch references.
• Support onsite production reviews, line trials and batch approvals at manufacturing facilities as needed, when PD Sr. Director and Associate Director cannot be present.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required to support production and fulfillment timelines.
• Maintain strong attention to detail and good partnerships while balancing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.

What You'll Bring

• Technical Color Background: 5+ years of Color Product Development and/or color chemistry experience required; management-level experience preferred.
• Travel: Must be flexible and available for domestic and international travel, including on short notice. Travel is typically 5–7 trips per year but may increase based on business and development needs.
• Strong visual color assessment skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Deep understanding of cosmetic development, batch review protocols, production processes, and NPI workflows.
• Hands-on experience conducting on-site batch approvals, library color jams, and shade and fragrance adjustments.
• Highly organized - both physically and digitally, proactive, and comfortable driving day-to-day project management in a fast-paced development environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear, technically grounded recommendations to cross-functional teams.

• Location of Position: Beverly Hills, CA
  • Must be a commutable distance to office
• Travel Expectation: Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. roughly 5-7 trips per year (may be more)
• Hybrid Model Expectation: Must be able to work 4+ days a week in the office 
• Budgeted Hourly Rate : $110K-$140K

The base salary range for this role is listed above. 

Total compensation includes base salary, annual company-based performance bonus, and equity. Under e.l.f.’s annual bonus program, employees are eligible to earn up to 200% of their target bonus when company performance exceeds defined goals. In addition, e.l.f. provides a variety of other benefits to employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement savings plan, gender neutral parental leave, and unlimited paid time off. The amount of total compensation (including base salary) offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including geographic location, experience, specific skills, and qualifications.
