Assistant Principal Position at Carrollton Middle School

Carrollton Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified, student-centered educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal at Carrollton Middle School. Under the direction of the Middle School Principal and Superintendent, the Assistant Principal will assist in providing instructional leadership while organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating school programs and operations. Primary responsibilities include student discipline utilizing restorative practices, teacher evaluation and instructional support, school improvement initiatives, and assisting the principal in the overall operation of the middle school.

The Assistant Principal will administer student discipline consistently, fairly, and in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, Board Policies, and restorative justice practices. They will develop, implement, and monitor intervention programs designed to reduce chronic absenteeism and improve student attendance. They will coordinate parent outreach and educational programming related to attendance, behavior, and student success. They will support and strengthen the school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and other behavior support systems. They will promote a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment for all students. They will support teachers in implementing effective classroom management and instructional practices. They will assist the principal with classroom observations, teacher evaluations, and instructional coaching utilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching. They will collaborate with staff to improve student achievement through data-driven decision making. They will assist with implementation and monitoring of school improvement initiatives, including MiCIP. They will assist the principal with the daily operation and management of Carrollton Middle School. They will ensure compliance with federal, state, and district laws, regulations, and policies. They will supervise school activities, extracurricular events, and evening functions as assigned. They will develop and facilitate programs that strengthen family engagement and school-community partnerships. They will lead committees and teams in implementing building-level initiatives. They will maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of all student and personnel information. They will demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times. They will maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members. They will effectively utilize technology, including internet-based research and educational software. They will exhibit excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. They will be self-directed, flexible, dependable, and capable of working independently. They will welcome and assist visitors in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner. They will perform other duties as assigned by the Middle School Principal and/or Superintendent. They will frequently walk, stand, and move throughout the school building and campus. They will occasionally lift, move, or assist students and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. They will attend and supervise school activities during evenings and weekends as needed. They will perform duties requiring mobility, flexibility, and the ability to respond to emergency situations.

Required qualifications include a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, a Master's degree or higher in Education or a related field, a valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate or other appropriate administrative certification, demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication, ability to work collaboratively as a member of an administrative leadership team, experience working effectively with at-risk students and their families, knowledge of and experience with school improvement planning, including the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MiCIP), and demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The candidate must satisfactorily complete: 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check pursuant to Public Act 189 of 1996 (MCL 380.1230b), criminal history and fingerprint background check, and personal and professional reference checks. They must possess or obtain training/certification in: Restorative Justice Practices, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and AED. Ability to lift and/or assist with lifting up to 50 pounds when necessary.
