How You’ll Make an Impact:
The Supervisor oversees daytime program operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic milieu, including youth wake‑up routines and daily transitions. This role provides leadership for clerical and administrative functions while ensuring alignment with agency philosophy, policies, and program standards.
The Supervisor guides and supports youth and young adults in working toward their goals and ensures consistent implementation of Individual Treatment Plans. By monitoring program communication, supervising staff and youth, and maintaining appropriate staffing and 24‑hour coverage, the Supervisor directly contributes to program stability, staff effectiveness, and positive outcomes for youth.
In this Role, you will:
- Support and implement the policy and philosophy of the Agency and program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to one’s personal and professional growth, i.e., training.
- Participate in supervision meetings with supervisor.
- Responsible for training new Transition Coaches and monitoring ongoing compliance with HR required trainings and paperwork.
- Provide weekly supervision to Transition Coaches noted above. Offer support and feedback to direct reports, conduct Transition Coaches performance evaluations with program manager and use progressive discipline when necessary.
- Ensure team members are trained, understand and practically applying the concepts of the Mercy Model in their work with the youth and families and with their co-workers.
- Learn, align with, and execute the treatment philosophies, modalities, and practices of the Agency.
- Be responsible for (or accessible to advise on) the use of de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in CPI protocol.
- Work collaboratively with other Youth Program departments.
- Ensure Youth Care coverage for all shifts.
- Provide flexibility with own schedule when necessary.
- Ensure that Staff are held accountable for their responsibilities.
- Be able to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
- Communicate promptly and accurately within the program/Agency and with external bodies (i.e. employers, schools, family, supports, legal personnel, housing programs, etc.).
- Complete required documentation during shift and follow on-call notification procedures.
- Provide safe transportation for youth or young adults and their support systems, following agency policy and state laws.
- Build a therapeutic relationship with young adults and their caregiving systems while respecting professional boundaries.
- Implement structure of the program. This includes providing supportive supervision, guidance, and role modeling for the youth adults in the milieu.
- Coach the young adults; teach skills; guide social problem solving; identify strengths, talents and interests.
- Work with young adults to assist them in planning and achieving their goals across all relevant domains.
- Engage with young adults in daily routines and activities by setting expectations, praising positive behaviors, setting limits, giving corrective feedback, processing behavior and decision-making.
- Develop and support creative interventions that incorporate youth strengths and talents.
- Provide individualized services and supports to best meet the needs and goals of the youth and young adults.
- Work collaboratively with all teams as necessary to support young adults.
- Collaborate with Administrative coworkers who support program and the Day Coordinator role in manners such as file reviews, program walk-throughs, etc.
- Ensure all youth Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) are actively implemented within daily programming
- Reinforce clinical goals through structure, routines, and staff engagement
- Monitor youth progress and communicate updates to the Therapist and Program Manager
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute observations from the milieu
- Ensure daily programming supports development of: Emotional regulation and coping strategies, Social and communication skills.
- Prepare for and participate in supervision with the direct supervisor.
- Participate in team meetings, which will include assessment of program youth or young adults.
- Stay up to date on all program log entries and read/ respond to emails in a timely manner.
- Utilize effective interactional skills (e.g. solicit youth input throughout interactions; acknowledge youth input through active listening; remain nonjudgmental; use a pleasant and steady voice tone; express enthusiasm when appropriate; attune to youth and utilize good caregiver affect management; express empathy, concern, care and encouragement; offer assistance as needed; set limits and expectations when appropriate; provide praise)
- Be responsible for all quarterly Individual Treatment Plans and the implementation of these plans.
- Follow guidelines and procedures to ensure accurate and safe distribution and proper documentation of medications.
- Employ all aspects of de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in CPI protocol. Restrain youth or young adults as necessary.
- Actively engage in learning and integrating developmentally appropriate, attachment-informed, and trauma-responsive theory and practice consistent with the Mercy Model of Care.
- Learn, align with, and execute the treatment philosophies,modalities,and practices of the Agency, including adherence to ethical guidelines and professional boundaries.
What we need from you:
- Master’s Degree required;preferably in the area of psychology, social work, sociology, or an acceptable Human Services Degree as determined by DCFS rule 401.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)required or obtained within six months of hire. (All eligibility requirements for exam completed upon hire)
- CADC preferred
- Experience working in a residential setting or a high-energy work environment with staff and youth.
- Ability to work a minimum of two nights per week, until at least 9:00 p.m.Provide oncall support and accessibility 24/7.
- Ability to be on- call(responsibility shared with Program Manager)in order to support program needs.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model.
- Experience in residential treatment.
- Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, ability to drive a van, maintain a clear driving record, and retain driving approval through the Department of Children and Family Services.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and professional journals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to become proficient in other software packages and programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to learn, understand and carry out the key principles of the Mercy Model.
- Ability to attend required Agency trainings(including CPR/ First Aid and Crisis Prevention Institute Training) and maintain necessary training compliance. Flexibility to attend daytimetrainingsor sessions outside of regularly scheduled hours.
- Promote, support and role model the use of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) theory and practice for all co-workers in de-escalating situations.

Basics Information / Schedule Details
This job is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The schedule is Monday-Friday. Weekly hours are 3 days 9am-5pm and 2 nights. Evening shifts are: 11am-7pm,12pm-8pm, and 2pm-10pm.
Pay range is between $61,500-$63,000/year
