This includes the academic school year and 8 weeks of summer camp. Workday hours are 8am-4pm, subject to change depending on program needs and enrollment.Position Summary: Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is targeted to the specific developmental stage for rising Kindergarteners. Providing a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, the TK program emphasizes school readiness, balancing early academics, and social-emotional learning. TK offers a valuable opportunity for children to grow and learn at their own pace, ensuring they are ready for the increased cognitive, physical and social challenges of kindergarten and beyond. Transitional kindergarten places significant emphasis on social and emotional development as well as introducing more structured academic activities. The TK daily experience will provide ample opportunities for children to engage in cooperative play, develop important social skills, and build relationships with their peers and teachers.A Core Belief of Bixby School is that committed, well-qualified teachers are fundamental to the success of our school. As a Bixby School teacher, you will nurture students cognitive, academic, social and emotional growth and development in a manner that reflects Bixbys mission to nurture childrens love of learning as they develop their individual gifts and prepare them to make meaningful contributions to the world.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDailyAs a co-teacher in a mixed-age preschool classroom and TK classroom, provide opportunities for children to learn through play, actively and imaginatively engage with others, create spaces for children to explore and construct meaning of the world around themDesign and deliver preschool and TK curriculum, including preparation of all instructional materials and resources needed to effectively execute instructional plansTeach with patience and creativity Work collaboratively with other professionals in planning instruction to meet students needs and fuel the embers of individual student strengths Serve as the primary point of contact for Transitional Kindergarten familiesDifferentiate instruction and the classroom environment to implement accommodations and extensionsSupport students social-emotional and academic developmentSupport the mission and core beliefs of Bixby SchoolModel Bixbys values of Respect, Responsibility and Empathy Employee shall be expected to report to work on all of the days during which the program in which the Employee is employed is in operation, as indicated on the school calendar, a copy of which has been delivered to the Employee.
