Cedar Park Group is seeking an experienced Working Civil Foreman to lead civil construction activities on utility-scale solar projects throughout Upstate New York for a direct hire with our client.

This is a hands-on leadership position, not a strictly supervisory role. The Working Civil Foreman will oversee daily field operations while regularly operating heavy equipment and working alongside the crew. The ideal candidate has strong heavy civil construction experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to maintain safety, quality, productivity, and project schedules.

Compensation

• $80,000 - $90,000 annual base salary, depending on experience

• Applicable prevailing wage rates paid when performing covered work on qualifying projects

• Per Diem and hotel accommodations provided when eligible for overnight travel

Location and Schedule

• Projects located throughout Upstate New York

• Regular travel between project locations is required

• Extended hours and occasional weekend work may be required based on project schedules

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crews of approximately 5 -15 civil construction workers

• Plan daily work activities and assign labor, equipment, and materials

• Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning meetings

• Promote a strong safety culture while maintaining crew productivity

• Coordinate with project leadership, surveying, quality control, safety, and other field teams

• Train and mentor crew members on safe work practices and construction methods

• Monitor daily production and adjust work plans to maintain project schedules

• Complete daily reports covering labor, equipment, production quantities, and safety observations

• Operate heavy equipment and perform civil construction work alongside the crew

• Support occasional warranty, restoration, and civil maintenance work as needed

Civil Construction Experience

Candidates should have hands-on experience in several of the following areas:

• Clearing, grubbing, and topsoil stripping

• Rough and fine grading

• Cut-and-fill operations and site balancing

• Stormwater, retention, and detention ponds

• Swales, culverts, drainage structures, and riprap installation

• Erosion and sediment control

• SWPPP-related measures, including silt sock installation

• Gravel access roads, crane paths, and equipment laydown yards

• Aggregate placement and compaction

• Road construction and maintenance

• Equipment foundations and concrete pads

• Sign foundations, bollards, formwork, and concrete finishing

• Deer fencing, chain-link fencing, and security gates

• Final grading, landscaping, seeding, hydroseeding, and soil stabilization

• Site restoration and cleanup

Equipment Experience

Candidates should be comfortable personally operating several types of heavy equipment, including:

• Hydraulic excavators

• Bulldozers

• Motor graders

• Wheel loaders

• Skid steers and compact track loaders

• Vibratory rollers

• Backhoes

• Telehandlers

• Water trucks

• Off-road dump trucks

• Other compact construction equipment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of heavy civil construction experience

• Minimum of two years of experience leading civil construction crews

• Strong hands-on heavy equipment operating experience

• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, grading plans, and specifications

• Strong understanding of OSHA construction safety requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills

• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Willingness to travel and work extended hours or weekends when required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on utility-scale solar projects

• Solar EPC construction experience

• OSHA 30 Construction certification

• Competent Person - Excavation training

• GPS machine-control experience

• Asphalt work experience

• Knowledge of NYSDOT and NYSDEC standards

• Class A or Class B CDL

• Heavy equipment operator certifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
