Plant Quality Manager

It is not a department that measures the plant. It is how the plant runs. We're looking for a Plant Quality Manager with energy, edge, and know-how. This person walks the floor, knows the systems, and isn't afraid to take a hard position when the part isn't right. You'll lead and mentor the quality team, own our quality systems, and be the plant's voice with our automotive OEM customers. This is a highly visible leadership role. You'll challenge when it matters, with the customer, with operations, and with engineering, and then bring everyone together to solve the problem for good.

You drive root cause to the real answer and make sure it doesn't come back. Business-minded. You understand that quality is a business metric, not just a quality metric. You use data to balance customer expectations, operational performance, cost, and risk, and you understand when quality needs to hold the line and when the business needs to find another path.

Customer Be the plant's primary quality contact for our OEM customers (GM, Toyota, Ford, and others). Build credibility and trust with customer quality engineers and plant teams. Lead customer concerns from containment through closure: 8Ds, root cause, corrective action, and verification that the fix works. Represent the plant with confidence. Defend our position with data when the facts support it and own it fast when they don't. Protect the plant from customer escalation (e.g., GM CS1/CS2, Toyota SIA) by identifying risk early, driving corrective action, and maintaining strong customer performance. If we're in escalated status, lead the way out. Own customer scorecards, customer-specific requirements (CSRs), and on-time, accurate responses. Handle customer and certification-body notifications for quality or delivery issues. Quality Systems Own and continuously improve the plant's IATF 16949 quality management system. Lead internal audits and host customers and third-party audits. Drive the use of core tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA) across launches and running production. Make sure our Layered Process Audit (LPA) and escalation processes are robust, followed, and actually catch problems. Serve as the plant's CCAP Quality Manager of record. Keep products exported to China compliant with GB 8410, and manage the CoP control plan, CCAP mark control, and change notifications to the certification body. Plant Performance & Team Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team: engineers, techs, and inspectors. Set clear expectations, coach performance, and build a succession plan. Challenge operations and engineering to build quality into the process. Drive error-proofing and automated/vision inspection over dependence on manual checks. Own Cost of Quality. Reduce scrap, rework, and customer chargebacks, and report trends and results to plant leadership. Manage the quality budget and track spending against plan. Lead Quality Best Business Practice meetings with other Motus plants to share and adopt best solutions across the company.

Required Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) 7+ years of quality experience in manufacturing, including 3+ years leading a quality team Automotive supplier experience with direct OEM customer interface Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements; experienced QMS internal auditor Hands-on command of automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA Proven structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) with a track record of closing customer issues Strong communication skills and the confidence to hold a position with customers and internal leaders Preferred Automotive interior trim experience (headliners, lamination, thermoforming) Knowledge of CCAP certification or other export product certification requirements Experience with GM and/or Toyota supplier quality programs ASQ certification (CQE, CQM) and/or Lean / Six Sigma certification Experience with Plex or a similar MES, and with vision inspection systems
