Location: Waterloo, Iowa

Salary: $80-100K plus 10% bonus

Overview of the Senior Design Engineer Position:

The Senior Design Engineer will work closely with a team of up to 10 Design Engineers to create mechanical products and systems that meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities of the Senior Design Engineer:

• Manage engineering projects by analyzing customer needs and market demands, assigning tasks, and overseeing project progress.
• Conduct research and testing on mechanical systems and products, utilizing principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials.
• Ensure product functionality by developing testing methods and evaluating product capabilities.
• Create mechanical products based on customer requirements, using innovative manufacturing and assembly methods.
• Improve manufacturing processes by modifying equipment and focusing on cost reduction and efficiency.
• Ensure product quality through extensive testing methods and inspections.
• Prepare detailed reports on product performance and trends.
• Provide technical information and support to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements through continuous education and networking.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.

Education & Experience Requirements of the Senior Design Engineer:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Senior Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience in heavy haul trailer or heavy equipment engineering is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Excel and design software required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Analytical mindset and understanding of business practices are required.
• Familiarity with cost accounting and lean enterprise principles preferred.
• Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies quickly.
